Dillon
Try and imagine no Lake Dillon, but instead in the same place three rivers
coming together where a trading post and clusters of cabins might have
existed. This was the first site of the
Town of Dillon and the scene in the late 1800s until Denver
needed water storage in the high country. The town had to relocate to the
northeastern shore of the lake while the reservoir was completed in 1963.
The result was drinking water for Denver, but also our community got the
beautiful lake we see and recreate on today.
Now the lakeside mountain Town of Dillon has a variety of amenities,
including eateries housed in buildings from the Old Town of Dillon,
microbreweries, a bowling alley, batting cages, and a summer concert
venue/amphitheater.
